HDB WiFi setup: concrete walls 0, you 1

From 3-room resale to a fresh Tengah BTO — we design your HDB WiFi around how these flats are actually built, and prove it with a speed test in every room.

Why HDB flats have the worst WiFi dead zones

Three things make HDB WiFi uniquely bad. First, the walls: HDB structural walls are steel-reinforced concrete, which absorbs WiFi signal far more than the drywall used in most other countries. Second, the DB box: in newer BTOs, your fibre ONT and router are installed inside a metal cabinet next to the household shelter — effectively a signal cage. Third, the layout: long corridors put the bedrooms two or three walls away from wherever the router sits.

No consumer mesh kit fixes physics. The fix is the one used in every office building: run the signal through the wires, not through the walls. Your flat already has LAN points wired back to the DB box — we use them to place a wall access point in each zone that needs coverage. Full speed in every room, one network name, seamless roaming.

HDB WiFi questions

My router is inside the DB cabinet. Is that why my WiFi is bad?

Almost certainly. In newer HDB flats the ONT and router are installed inside the metal DB cabinet beside the bomb shelter — reinforced concrete and a metal door between your router and every room. We relocate the routing properly and use your flat's built-in LAN points to place access points where the signal is actually needed.

Which package do I need for a 4-room HDB flat?

The 4-Room Seamless package ($1,649) with three wall access points covers a standard 4-room layout: living room, master bedroom and the bedroom zone. If your layout is unusual, send us your floor plan on WhatsApp and we'll confirm.

Do HDB flats have the LAN points needed for this?

Flats built or renovated in the last 15 years usually have LAN points in the living room and bedrooms, wired back to the DB box. We use these for the access points — no hacking, no new trunking in most cases. If a room lacks a point, we'll quote cabling options first.

Will this work with my Singtel / StarHub / M1 / MyRepublic broadband?

Yes. Our router connects directly to your ONT and replaces the ISP router. All Singapore fibre providers are supported, on any speed plan up to multi-gig.

Can you do the install while I'm renovating?

Yes — mid-renovation is the ideal time, right after painting. We can also coordinate with your ID or electrician if you're adding LAN points.
